After building over 46,000 homes, you might think we'd be a little tired of it all but, I can honestly say I love this business as much as the day we broke ground on our very first home. Along the way we have enjoyed success at many levels - and I think we can even take a little credit for actually changing the way new homes and communities are planned and built.

I wish I could say our success was because I was a brilliant visionary, but the truth is I was just a person out looking for a new home - probably just like you. And, I was actually depressed by what was available in the market - dreary cookie cutter developments built, it seemed, from an accounting spreadsheet rather than an architect's blueprint. These were homes without heart and I wanted to love my home.

I was originally inspired by a new trend in home building and community design called New Urbanism --- the idea that homes should be unique and reflect the needs of the families living in them. And further that communities should be inviting and inspiring places where people gather, children grow and memories are made.

It turns out my desire to find a home I'd love was shared by enough people that Mattamy's efforts were met with resounding enthusiasm. The things we learned then we still practice today and I'm proud to say we've created a few interesting ideas of our own and actively search for new solutions for modern living. Our newest community in downtown Mississauga features a new home design we call Urban Walk-Ups. They were completely sold out in hours.
